Orange Cat is staying & Chase looses teeth

Kaze Reports:

Rufus is staying in our house.  He's apparently the biggest teddy bear cat ever and really cute and blah blah blah.  I am very interested in him BUT he's big so that scares me.  We all get closer to each other and turn our backs and do lots of blinking but I still hiss if he scares me.  Last night I was snuggling with the Lap Lady under her scarf and Rufus jumped up to snuggle and didn't know I was there.  I flipped out and we both took off in different directions.  Today he's spending the morning in the house with me and Latte with no human supervision.....we'll see how this goes.  He spent an hour while the Lap Lady was taking Chase to the vet and it is really cold out on the front porch so she wanted him to stay inside.  Latte is terrified of him but is getting more used to having him around.  He really is Rufus the Dufus though he just does so many weird silly things that make us all laugh.

Chase is at the vet this morning having his teeth cleaned.  He hasn't had a dental done in 9 years (he didn't need one) and they just called the LL and he has to have 2 teeth pulled :(.  They are going to do x-rays to make sure the other teeths are OK but it makes everyone sad he has to loose some teeths.  I guess this really hit home that he is a senior kitty now.  He doesn't act like it at all, and even Latte & I are 5 years old- we aren't kittens anymore.  Rufus is now the baby at 1 1/2 years old.  Time really flies.

Yearly Exams

Tell me the truth...I don't look overweight to you do I? I mean, the VET wants me to loose 2 lbs and I was supposed to loose it last year but I didn't. I think I'm fluffy and well formed. However, my report card was "A-" and the comment was "Chase needs to chase more!" Then they stole my blood and my pee. I growled a lot at them and even put my teeth on the Woman but I didn't sink in. I don't even have to get a dental!! But now I'm old and have to visit them 2x a year. Boo.
I am a "Rock Star" and got an "A++"!! The tall vet man says I'm very healthy!
It was a rough trip to the vet though, the Toy Man couldn't go so Meowmy had to take me and Chase on her own. She is borrowing Gamma's car this week and Gamma doesn't mind cat fur and such (unlike the Toy Man) so Meowmy let me sit in the front with her on my harness. At first I was upset and she let me get in the carrier with Chase. Then we had to wait in the car for a few minutes while she took care of Gamma's kitties. At the end of the VET experience I wanted to get back in the carrier with Chase but he was growly and wanted to be alone. I spent the ride home on Meowmy's lap with the hot air blowing on me.

Thankful Thursday

Some glorious Chase for all of my many fans. Nothing spectacular yet but there is more to come....I promise.
I had a really nice time when Kaze was at thet vet yesterday. I enjoyed Meowmy's lap!! I didn't miss Kaze at all!

P.S. Meowmy bought a "pet camera" and put it around my neck. Hopefully it works out well and then you can see what I see!
Hi everyone! I had a rough morning today. I was in quite a bit of pain and doing the many squat things. The Lap Lady had to call the VET place 3 times today to see about the results which the lab didn't fax. Finally at the end of the night the VET lady called and said the lab never faxed it but they did e-mail it. Anyway, long story short the very good news (according to the Lap Lady) is that they were able to take a sterile pee sample and I in fact have a bacterial infection! Now for me, I think this is bad news as I now have 14 days of Clavamox. I hate icky medications. Hate them. The Lap Lady gave me some pain meds too so I would start feeling better fast. The Lap Lady said it could have been a lot worse so this is good news. Plus, she says she's glad she isn't crazy- sometimes the Tall Man thinks she is overly cautious with us kitties. Thanks for all of the purrs! Hopefully I kick this infection fast

The tortures I endure

Yeah so she left me at 3pm and by 6:30 I had still not peed out my sub-q fluids. I was getting pretty ticked off and the urge to pee was getting really strong. The Lap Lady was nowhere to be seen and I was worried I'd be stuck there all night long. Suddenly, my savior, my hero, my Tall Man showed up to bring me home!! He was going to demand to take me home even if I didn't pee because he didn't want the LL to be mad (she had said no way was I to stay there over night just to wait for me to pee). Since I heard his voice I let the pee go so now they can test it and tell us about it tomorrow.

The doctor things it is probably just a UTInfection but she's smart to test the pee. I'm resting comfortably on my favorite place- the Lap Lady's lap and I am happy to report I can sleep in my own bed tonight with the LL.

Thank you all for purring for me! I was SOOOOO askeered and SOOOOO angry. The LL was illegally texting the TM during her class but she had to know about me. On her 10 minute break in class the TM called her after just picking me up and before she heard his voice she heard mine in the background and that made her very very happy. Then she just about passed out from exhaustion in her class that ends at 10pm.

You know what Latte did while I was gone? Uter betrayal. He claimed MY Lap Lady's lap!! Seriously, he didn't care I was gone- he just claimed her form himself. RUDE.

To the VET I go

I has a little pee problem. The Lap Lady came home at lunch and I tried to pee 3 times and nothing came out so she called the VET place. Then I tried a few more times and eventually did pee after a long drink. And then I did a Kaze-caugh fest. Still, the Lap Lady is being cautious and is taking me to the vet in a few hours. She might even have to miss a class for me. I'll keep you posted!

4:00pm update:
The ultimate betrayal. The Lap Lady LEFT ME AT THE VET!!!! They said they wanted to give me sub-q fluids so that my bladder could fill and they can take a sample. So I'm screaming my little heart out in a metal cage right now. Alone. This is so horrible. Oh, and the Tall Man will pick me up, she won't even come herself!! Can you believe it? The Tall Man will not make the proper fuss I need after the torture chamber. I'm utterly aghastated at this whole situation.

Not too happy on Frootbat Friday

So yeah, that was probably the worst "adventure" I could have imagined!! First of all, the PTU was involved- in a major way- which I shall get to later. So I got in the black box w/ wheels. That sucked so I screamed at my Lap Lady with a tone of absolute annoyance the entire trip.

We ended up at the STABBY PLACE. I shall now not call it the VET because it is officially the STABBY PLACE. I did some trips between the LL's lap and the PTU while waiting so that was OKish and then everyone ooohed and awwed over me because they had never seen a cat like me.

At first all went pretty well, I even got a short temperature taking because I was being so good. The really nice VET lady said I'm very healthy and maybe next year I'll need a dental but I'm good otherwise.

Then came the STABBS. I don't get pokey things, I get these things called "titers" which are soooo much worse. They have to steal your blood for them. Well.....I am not letting them steal my blood!!!!! I made them hold me down and stabby at me for 10 whole minutes before they got enough blood. The Lap Lady held my front have, a tech held the back half, and another to take my blood. I purred the whole entire time but it was absoutely horrible. They said I have the veins of a snake!!! So I gotted stabbed numerous times in both back legs. You might think that is bad enough, but it gets much worse.

While the LL went to give them all of her green papers for torturing me she set me on the counter as she does to all of us when we go to pay. That way we're way up high from woofies and the ladies can oooh and awww over us. The LL stopped looking at me so I tried to make a break for home. I pushed the PTU over the counter and went THUD on the ground!!! The LL freaked out....like FREAKED. OUT. Luckily I was in there with my "kaze snuggle" from DKM so my fall was cushioned and it is a big PTU so I landed on my paws. After a full check over I finally got to go home.

I was shaking with anger through my meezes as we returned home. I had to enlist Latte's help to get the stank off of me. I'm traumitized. I need some nip!!!!!!

Meezer Rules Wednesday

Annual vet-checks are bad news.

Meowmy came home early yesterday and out came the PTUs. She scooped me and Chase up and carted us out to the metal machine. Chase cried like a baby the whole drive over there while I threw in a few good pitiful meezes for effect.

Of course I was the first to get tortured. I was weighed- 8.8 lbs, temperature taken, and then Dr. Ian came in to check on my health. Well, he scooped me up and placed hundreds of kisses on my cute tiny head while he cradled me like a baby. I think that man is a bit crazy, you know what I mean? I mean, he tortures cats for a living and wants you to like him?

Then he opened my mouth which ticked me off because I don't like my mouth opened so I ground my teeth in protest. Then he said he found something he didn't like. He said he though he saw my teeth chatter in response to him touching my one tooth. He said this could be FORLs (kind of like a cat cavity) but when he went to show Meowmy I fought really hard so he couldn't show her anything and then decided that perhaps I wasn't chattering- just being annoyed at the exam. So for now I just have to keep on my pulse antibiotics every month with Kaze. If it gets worse I'll have to have the tooth out but we aren't there yet. The good news: NO shots and NO bloods stolen!

Now for Chase's exam. He immediately got the FAT word thrown at him. Meowmy did stick up for him but then the VET showed her his chart and he's gained 1.5 lbs in the past 4 years and is up to 13.8 lbs. So because he's FAT we are all on a diet. Not fair!!! Meowmy has to cut all of our food back so Chase looses weight. I don't really blame her though- the first thing he did when he got home was go to the food bowl. Meowmy pushed him aside and he went back. 5 times this happend. Chase apparently is an emotional eater. He had to have a rabies shot and blood stolen for a titer and a blood test because of his age. He must be getting soft in his old age because he didn't poop on the vet techs stealing his blood.

Meowmy's NCR vet adventure

So Meowmy is a partner in an architectural firm. She's not an architect, in fact she's studying to take her law school admissions test in December (purrs are greatly appreciated- she HATES standardized tests). Anyhow, she's the financial officer and digital artist and administrator. Basically, doer of all tasks non-architectural.

Years ago when I was sick and we spent so much time at the VET's office she talked with them about them maybe wanting to work together for a new addition of exam rooms. Today she had the "honor" of helping survey the building. She took the intern and measured out the rooms and doors and windows and dungeon.

Meowmy wears "pretty clothes" to work. They had to survey the basement. Meowmy is now covered in spider webs and other unmentionables. The intern was a wuss so Meowmy had to crawl in corners of the dungeon. 2 hours of measuring tape and really bad "architectural" sketches have made her dislike the vet almost as much as I do.
