New Year...new room?

First of all thanks to everyone's birthday wishes for Kaze!  We are going to let her tell this story because she had her usual Kaze-niption about the situation.  (Side note, the Lap Lady deleted ALL of her 2010 pictures...brilliant, huh?  Luckily the Tall Man recovered a lot of them.)

Just as I was getting used to having my Lap Lady around all of the time after work she packed that rolling bag and went out the door again and came home smelling like The Law.  This made me rather depressed because we were getting some serious couch/blanket snuggle afternoons and I was really loving it.  Especially since I didn't have to share her lap with the law books. 

One day the Tall Man came up with a wild idea that they should take the Cat Room (he called it a guest room?) and make it into an office for the Lap Lady.  I have no idea why since the Lap Lady can just sit on the couch with us on top of her with the TV going for the Tall Man....but aparently that is not condusive to learning? 

So the humans removed the mattress/boxspring and removed all of the furniture and locked us cats out of the room.  This was terrifying for me because this is MY room....it has always been my room.  We had spent a lot of time tearing off the fabric from the bottom of the boxspring and I hid my plastic things in there and also myself when the Purple Menace was making noise.  Still, I handled the paint smells fine, and even was OK with them tearing up the carpet that I have marked with my poo spots over the past 4 years. 

However, then the Lap Lady started to paint the trim work.  And I noticed the door was off of the hinges.  So I yelled at her to see what she was up to.  You know what happened???  My voice came back to me and yelled even louder!  So I had to keep yelling.  And yelling.  And yelling.  The Tall Man finally came up to see what was wrong.  I was so upset, it gave me liquipoos that night (very stanky). 

I helped the humans move the sleeper couch up the stairs by running underneath it and taking rides as it surfed up the stairs.  They were cranky though, not sure why.  Something about it only eeking by.  The couch is great though because now I have my Lap Lady snuggle time back!  I have to share with law books again but at least it is quiet and I can tempt her into napping. 

Then today a new prize arrived!!!  It is a  tall custom designed scratching  post and built to my specifications.  I don't like sisal but the boys do so the bottom is sisal and the top is carpet for my petal paws.  I lept at it (like a lemur aparently) and Latte shimmied up to the top.  It is really beautiful and fun!!!  It is modular so it fit in a normal box and assembled really nicely.  Our new friends at Cats Love Us picked out the perfect carpet and he was just the BEST guy ever.  We HIGHLY recommend these posts and the best part is....they are reasonably priced!  You know how scratching posts are usually ridiculously over priced?  These are totally fair and worth every penny.



Man Cat Update:
I'm handsome and very happy.  I find extreme joy in rubbing on the Awesome Man, especially when he doesn't want hair on him.  Also, I've decided there is no point in fighting Kaze's snuggles.  She's pretty snuggly and seriously fun to chase so I've decided she's OK.

Happy 30th Birthday Tall Man/Toy Man/Awesome Man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We all love you very very very very much.  You keep us happy and feeling loved and played with while the Lap Lady has foresaken us for law school.  Without you we would be bored and miserable and feel unloved.  Thank you for being THE BEST cat dad ever.  For your birthday, I have given you a "plastic thing".  Please hide it for me ASAP so we can interact.

The plastic thing

Apparently the Lap Lady was able to figure something out with her law school fried brain. She can upload videos from her iPhone!! That means when she has a few seconds here and there maybe we can show you guys what we're up to. This is my MOST PRIZED POSESSION!!!!!!!! It is the plastic from the top of Ben & Jerry's ice cream. We call it "the plastic thing" and on weekends the Tall Man tries new and challenging ways for me to fetch it.

Yes, it snows in New Jersey. 24" fell on us this weekend. The humans were getting a bit crazy stuck inside....

I can't even look at that shamless white rat. The snow is good because it means my and Latte's yearly vet check up is rescheduled to next week. Sweet!

I was ASKEERED this morning. Terrifieried really. I couldn't walk down the stairs, the Lap Lady had to coax me down. There was a monster on the steps- and that monster is called "Civil Procedure". They are law school books and they are scary!!!! The Lap Lady though something was wrong with my tiny little brain.

Wow...we know. Bad human who is supposed to be "on break". Well we had a LOT of human time over the weekend due to 24" of snow!!! We NEVER get snow like that in NJ. The humans spent a lot of time living in New England so they were happy to see it...for now.

Ice at the office, thankfully the humans just walk 2 minutes to work so they didn't have to worry about driving anywhere.



This one is the view from the Woman's work window. The evil crazy squirrels trudged through the pristine snow. No really, they are evil- they throw themselves at the windows of the office! There is no telling why but suddenly there will be a whack and a squirrel hurling through the air.

Thankful Thursday

Some glorious Chase for all of my many fans. Nothing spectacular yet but there is more to come....I promise.
I had a really nice time when Kaze was at thet vet yesterday. I enjoyed Meowmy's lap!! I didn't miss Kaze at all!

P.S. Meowmy bought a "pet camera" and put it around my neck. Hopefully it works out well and then you can see what I see!
Hi everyone! I had a rough morning today. I was in quite a bit of pain and doing the many squat things. The Lap Lady had to call the VET place 3 times today to see about the results which the lab didn't fax. Finally at the end of the night the VET lady called and said the lab never faxed it but they did e-mail it. Anyway, long story short the very good news (according to the Lap Lady) is that they were able to take a sterile pee sample and I in fact have a bacterial infection! Now for me, I think this is bad news as I now have 14 days of Clavamox. I hate icky medications. Hate them. The Lap Lady gave me some pain meds too so I would start feeling better fast. The Lap Lady said it could have been a lot worse so this is good news. Plus, she says she's glad she isn't crazy- sometimes the Tall Man thinks she is overly cautious with us kitties. Thanks for all of the purrs! Hopefully I kick this infection fast

Toesday

We all love sun spots, in fact we often have to share/fight over the nice ones in the living room. I know I look rather vishus here but I was really just trying to roll around enough to bite my own tail. I find that bathing while in the sun leaves my fur extra soft when it dries.

Speaking of vishus, Chase and I have quite the THoE battle going on. I like to add a lot of hissing and growling sound effects to make it even more exicting. I can pack a mean punch with my petal sized paws but Chase is just faster and punches harder. I'm working on it.....

I've been really enjoying the random Kaze toys left around for me (ie receipts). I just can't resist them! Gamma kept wondering where her notes went from her purse, but I thought she just brought them to play with me. I used to just like cash and receipts, but I've branched out to really enjoying 8.5 x 11 folded pieces of paper too.The Lap Lady made an awesome new fetch toy out of just a plain piece of ribbon and I am in love with it!! I fetch fetch fetch fetch until I fall asleep now. She throws it in the snuggle room and I bring it back up onto the bed so she can throw it again.

I missed my Lap Lady so much when she was away. The first night she was home I burrowed under the covers (even my head!) and purred all night long. I purred so loud she couldn't sleep! Then I attached myself to her lap at any moment she was seated. I have to watch her, she isn't allowed to ever leave me! She keeps surprising me and Latte during our mid-day nap by coming home for lunch. We don't mind her waking us because she has YOGURT and we all sit and not so patiently wait for her to share.

Frootbat Friday

We're all adjusting to the LL's new schedule as best we can. I have to tell you though, when she walked in tonight after riding Snap and buying food and she was wearing her sweatshirt.....I leapt right on her shoulders!!! My Lap Lady was herself, horse smells and all. The Tall Man tries to make it better by playing with me but I just miss her, you know? I don't like this law school thing one bit. Instead of smelling like a horse she smells like a train. Instead of snuggling in the couch hole she sits at the dining room table (in dim light) and types and reads her book.

As far as her legal education is going....well she's adjusting. However, she really does love the subject material!!!

Toesday

Today is the day the Lap Lady starts Law School. So from here on out we are not sure what to expect in the way our daily lives go but we do promise to keep you updated! The LL is super duper nervous...last night she kind of passed out in a exhausted heap while she was letting the paint on her nails dry. I touched her wrist and napped with her so she knew she wasn't alone. Even Snap was super duper good to ride for her and the Tall Man is being nice too even when she has little fits of freak out.

We did get a special package from Cliff and Olivia a few days ago and we'll have to update you on that soon. It is sooooooo cool! Thanks you guys!

Kaze in a Basket

Yup....I'm in a basket. I jumped in to see if I could find the tree that used to live in the basket but I'm pretty sure it is deaded and gone. My humans are horrible with keeping plants alive so it really isn't too much of a shock. So now there is an empty basket on the front porch just sitting there. So I investigated and found plant smells and got my paws slightly dirty. It was less interesting than I expected.

Bad Frootbat Friday

I had a little incident last night that ended up in quite the traumatic incident. I was playing with a choice piece of trash (which my LL swears she has no idea where I found it because she just cleaned the kitchen). Suddenly I inhaled it! It felt really weird in my throat and I tried to cough it up but it wouldn't come up. Every time I took a breath the paper rattled in my throat and I was very askeered. My LL ran up and got the PTU (wrong one, I've never been in that one!) and then shoved me in there and then we went into the metal machine. I was really really askeered and I couldn't breath right. The LL tried to tell me I'd be OK but I couldn't believe her. About 5 minutes into the ride I had a BIG cough and then the rattling in my throat stopped.

By the time we got to the ER vet I was meezing normally but my gums were not looking good so they put me in the Oxygen tank for a while. This was not much fun and my LL was not with me! I did my usual purr so much they can't hear my heart beat and the vet had to leave me with my humans for a while so I would calm down a bit. Which I did. And then I was OK. I think the LL was worse off than I was.

When I got home, you're never going to believe this, Chase was NICE to me!! He just sat in front of me and blinky eyed at me for a long time. I guess he does kind of like me. I have to go rest now because it was a sacrifying experience and I was sure I would never make it home again!

Climbing Troubles

I've been rather jumpy lately. I leap on top of the Lap Lady when she is getting food out of the cabinet even when she is wearing her work clothes. I've taken to just climbing her when she is wearing jeans too. But this, this one surprised her the most of all. She was sitting on the couch and I jumped straight onto her head. Yup, I just jumped on up there to hang out. She was laughing so hard and had to call the Tall Man to take a picture. I haven't been back up there because her head is round and not flat like I thought it might be.
