Please Purr for Snap

Our very very big sister Snap is sick. Horses can't yak up hairballs like we can, in fact they can't yak at all- its a one way system so when their tummies hurt its a BIG DEAL and its call colic. So at 6pm the barn lady noticed Snap didn't eat her dinner, was pawing, pacing, had rolled on the ground (this can make their intestines twist which can kill them) and not acting herself. She called Meowmy who of course raced out there and the vet as well. The vet gave her a pain killer, and pulled the poop out of her (nice right?) and a shot of some stuff to help her pass her poop easier. There are different kinds of colic and the kind she has is called gas-colic so its like her tummy is filled with gas and it hurts her. She won't even let Meowmy touch her belly.

Meowmy just spent 2 hours at the barn with her (which is 30 minutes from the house each way) and came home since Snap was resting peacefully. However Meowmy is of course not completely satisfied so she's going back out there at midnight to check on her.

Could you please purr really extra loud for our sister? She's extra big so I guess it makes sense to purr louder. Meowmy was supposed to be going to Boston tomorrow but I think she's going to stay home with Snap even if she is doing OK. Silly Meowmy, never trusts the care of her furries to anyone but herself I guess. Yeah for us though!!

We are purrin' for Snap. Our meowmy used to work for a horse vet so she said your meowmy did the right thing and the pain meds should help, as well as that "extraction"...they have to do that to old kitties sometimes too, yack yack. Keep us updated, so we can stop worryin'...and get back to sneaking turkey...

Ouch. Poor Snap. She feels bad and then some stabby guy pulls poop out? I mean, I guess that HELPS but it sure doesn't SOUND very fun.

I will sit on Buddah and purr...sitting on Buddah always helps.

Oh noes! Snap, get well! This is such bad news as tummy troubles are very bad and painful for horsies, but your Meowmie (or Meneighmie) is taking good care of you, so hang in there big girl! Fart as much as you can, that should help! Sorry, don't mean to be vulgar, just saying... xxx

Oh NO! Poor Snap! Colic is a terrible, terrible thing to have happen to horses, and we really feel for Snap. We know that gas colic is not as awful as some other kinds, but we can imagine how hugely worried your Meowmy is, and what pain poor Snap has been in! We will purr and make little woofies so loud you will be able to hear them all the way from France! Please let us know that Snap is herself again as soon as possible!

Your Pals,

We are purring for Snap to feel better today.
Mum says that when she first got her most favourite horse, he was an ex racehorse and had been neglected and had a huge worm burden. Because of that he used to get Spasmodic colic very regularly. She was lucky cuz his stable was at the end of their house and if he was restless she could hear his hooves moving around. She said very often she would wake up in the early hours and hear him. She found if she kept walking him, she could usually walk him out of it if it wasn't too severe. It seemed to get things moving. She always called the vet though when it was bad. Maybe walking would help Snap.

Poor Snap, colic is just the pits. Does your Mom walk him when he's got it? Sometimes it really does help. We'll all be making rumbly purrs for Snap and your Mom, because we know what a big worry colic can be.
